I just ran across a slew ways to recycle old teabags— and I don’t mean cutesy crochet projects. I’m a big tea drinker and I never ever realized that used teabags can be recycled in some very surprising and very green and frugal ways. For example:
How about a green tea bath? The tannins in green tea are particularly good for the skin. If you drink green tea, save the bags— let them dry out and then toss four or five of them into the tub while running a hot bath. Dunk yourself in the tub and emerge 15 or 20 minutes later relaxed and with skin soft and glowing from head to toe. A green tea bath can also be soothing for a sunburn or poison ivy.
How about new life for old houseplants. Those same tannins in tea will work wonders on your houseplants and in your compost pile. When re-potting a plant, just stick a dried used teabag over the hole in the bottom of the pot and voila— nourishment for your plant. Loose, wet black or gren tea leaves can add life to your compost pile by not only adding nutrients but by alsospeeding up the composting process.
How about used teabags, dampened and placed on eyes to take away puffiness or placed on blisters or insect bites to take away sting and inflramation. The tannins in teabags are a wonderful anti-inflammatory agent and leave your skin feeling soft and healthy.
I’m thinking that drinking tea is good and re-using those used teabags in a variety of earth friendly ways is even better. Somebody go put the kettle on, OK?

a tea bath sure is good for the skin!
It is indeed, Denis-- especially if it is a green tea bath-- don't know why, but green tea works best
