Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 6:40AM Over fed and under nourished— that’s America and here’s the infographic that shows it all in all its stark and glorious simplicity.
The average American consumes 2700 calories a day and in one year eats a whopping 110lbs of red meat, 53 gallons of soda ( that’s about a gallon a week per person) and 29 lbs of french fries just for a start. Add in all the ice cream, pizza, and processed food and things get serious.
Yes, it is true we eat our fruits and veggies but check out the fact that we consume an amazing 42 lbs of corn syrup and 2736 lbs of sodium per person, annually. It’s not surprising that the average American man at 5’9” tall weighs 190 lbs and the average American woman is 5’4” and weighs in at a no so svelte,164 lbs.
The infographic below is too good not to share. I found it on the Atlantic’s website where I also found a credit to Sarah Kliff. and a link to the full size graphic.
Bon Appetit America. We are what we eat and there is no denying that what we eat is making us fat

True, true. Did you know that today's kids are the first generation that probably won't live as long as their parents due to obesity and related illnesses? Scary thought.
