Ghost Hunter Madness Comes To Eye On Life

Friday, February 12, 2010 at 3:21PM Anyone who subscribes to cable TV knows that America has gotten way more haunted over the course of the last year or two, thanks almost entirely to the unexpected popularity of the Sy Fy network reality show Ghost Hunters.
With the debut of Ghost Hunters International last year, the ghost plague spread to Europe, South America, Australia, and even Tasmania, and today it seems that every cable network out around has to have its own ghost hunting show. (Or two. Or three.)
Even Animal Planet has a ghost hunting show now.
I confess, I love the cast on Ghost Hunters. Grant, Jason, Steve, Tango, Amy et al are the nerdy best friends I always wanted but had to give up once I graduated from junior high school 44 years ago. Now, I have permission to wallow in this stuff again, and I have to say that for a closet nerd like me it is a dream come true. I love these guys so much I don’t even care if anything happens on that show—and it’s a good thing too, because 8 out of 10 episodes, nothing does happen. Just watching them not find things is fun enough for me. Apparently, I have lots of company in that regard.
But I got thinking, why stop there?
Everybody has a ghost story or weird experience to share, and since I’ve been writing about the paranormal I’ve discovered that people want to share these stories. I get mail, I get comments, questions, and queries. In the upcoming weeks, we’ll be asking readers to share their own personal paranormal tales and photos with us, and we’ll publish the best of the best, with a byline or anonymously—your choice.
I’m also going to be reviewing all the latest paranormal popcorn fare in short bursts, and adding some thoughts of my own about what kinds of TV shows I’d personally like to see about paranormal topics and events.
So if you have a good story, a personal question about the paranormal, or a photo you are dying to share with the world, give us a buzz. You could see yourself on these pages, live and in person. (Or not! If you are embarassed, you don’t have to include your name in the published piece.)
Meanwhile, watch this space in coming weeks for a run down on the best and worst of the whole ghost busting, monsterquesting scene.

Funny...there IS a "ghost" story I want to share, but don't dare on Sat's Child. You'll be hearing from me.
